TCP Tuesday #122 / ESS Sketch #96

My friend's birthday is coming up.  She is a kitty lover and currently in medical school.  As a second year, she is doing all kinds of things from drawing blood to medicating patients via IVs.  So for her birthday card, I thought nurse Sprinkles from TCP You Sick Thing set would work just right!

This also gave me a perfect chance to play along with two of my favorite challenges.  First off is the TCP Tuesday #122 challenge co-hosted by  Joanne and Carole who came up with these yummy FUN looking colors.  Really like how these colors look together!  I just had to use them!  The red played in nicely with the red nurse hat.

I needed a little help with a layout idea and I was able to find inspiration from this week's ESS Sketch #96 created by Tracy Clemente.  Really like the simple layering of the sketch and  I smiled when I saw I could use a flower accent!  This gave me the perfect chance to create a FUN flower accent that I have been seeing others used; using the TCP flower die along with the TCP button die to cuts various button that layer oh so nicely.  Really like how the flower adds dimension to the card.  For the frame around nurse Sprinkle, I used my Cricut Cindy Loo (that I bought just for the many frame cuts).  The daisy in the sketch reminded me of the MS daisy edge punch I have been meaning to use and reminded me of this Cuttlebug edge embossing folder that coordinates nicely while adding dimension to a blank space.

I am really looking forward to her getting this card.  It celebrates her caring nature and makes the perfect bday card for her.

Thank you for stopping by and happy crafting!

You're My Cup of Tea! / TCP Tuesday #120

This week I wanted to play along with the TCP Tuesday Challenge #120, where Toni from Moved to the Mountains blog, had an inspiration challenge for us. Love those! But yes, I'm always a bit too literal when it comes to those types of challenges so I took a few of the elements from the inspiration picture, like the pillowcase and white sheets, and ran with it.

Here is the inspiration picture, a quilted funky rectangular pattern set with rich red and burgundy colors toned down with light pink and white and nice fresh set of white sheet. I decided to take a few of those funky shapes on the pillowcase and use my Cricut to cut that frame for my image. Can you see it? It's a bird's eye view of the bed in the inspiration picture :) ... LOL!

And in honor of our fabulous talented hostess, Toni, I decided to use these newly release (and I believe named after her) TCP Toni's Tea Set stamps :). I have been really itching to ink this set, with this cute looking tea cup and FUN sentiment, I can see myself inking these for other occasions!

I used a combination of coordinating DCWV papers from different stacks, trying to imitate the bed set :). I had fun paper piecing my image. I used this EK edge punch with my interpretation of white sheets. I had also been itching to use this wool felt from a collection I got from the TCP website. They come in a variety of coordinating colors and I couldn't help myself to them! :) I used the TCP Flower Button die on the felt to make this flowery frame for my cute little tea bag. I then used a bit of red/white twine for some added fun and was done.

This card came together nicely and I like how the layout is a bit different than I normal go for. Thanks for stopping by!

Make A Splash! / TCP TUESDAY #119

I had the chance this weekend to play along with this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge #119 hosted by the very talented Leigh from the Sunflower Studio blog.  Leigh had a FUN sketch for us and challenged us to use it! I needed to make a card for a care package so I wanted something sunny and FUN!

Here is what I came up with:

I used TCP By The Sea clear set, where I have been wanting to ink this cute penguin for a while now this summer.  I used my Cricut to cut out this sun like shape to frame the image.  I then used this DCWV Summer Stack where I found all these coordinating sunny paper that easily go so nicely together.  I got my new TCP Kitty Kat Pack stamp order that contained all the new TCP stamps released last week.  Can't wait to ink some of these new images!  A great value, this pack also included 3 different die, one of them being this Button Die that cut nicely on my Cuttlebug.  I cut the buttons using a matching dark blue glitter paper.  I also use some red stickles to add sparkle to his floating buddy.

Had a great time making this card and really loving this image!  Thanks for stopping by!

June Month Scrapbook Calendar Page/TCP Tuesday

I had a chance today to work on my June scrapbook calendar page, and I was inspired to participate in this week TCP Tuesday challenge where our hostess Amy Rohl, from Ink About Me, wanted us to use WOOD in a project.  I found this picture of my hubby from a few years back, standing underneath and inside a massive redwood tree when he visited Drive-Thru Tree Park in Legget, Ca.  It is so amazing, so NUTS to see these redwood trees in all their grandeur.

Cat's Pajamas Happy Camper stamp set worked nicely with the theme of this layout.  Especially the sentiment, because all you can think about when you see how majestic these redwoods are, is "this is NUTS!" :).  I also used the cute little squirrel, climbing up the tree and stamped a few nuts to go with the sentiment :).  I used a piece of coordinating TCP ribbon embellie with a button I sanded to make it more "wood" looking :).

This was a great page to put together! Thanks for stopping by and hope that your holiday weekend has been a FUN one!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES84 / ESS Sketch #60

Last week TCP Tuesday Challenge  was hosted by Susan who brought us a TCP stamp challenge; where we were to use any  TCP December holiday stamp :).  Immedietely I chose to go with my oh so awesome new TCP Give A Little set that was just released.  Among the many FUN images on this set, there is this cute little penguin surrounded with lights and holiding an ornament, ready to decorate that tree!

For inspiration, I turned to this week ESS Sketch #60; and what a great layout this sketch makes!

Here is my take on these two challenges.

With this sketch Tracy Clemente gives us a nice big accent that is held by a ribbon-like element.  For the accent, I wanted to use a fancy frame that went with the pp I chose; I found this in the Cricut Home Decor cartridge.  With a little help from Cricut Design Studio, I was able layer it to make it more fancy and paper pierced it to match the stitch look of the green ribbon.

Isn't this little festive penguin ADORABLE?  ALL of the new TCP sets just rock!  I just hope I get time to play with them all.  As it is, I have been really itching to ink this image for a bit now!  So tonight I just had to :)   I used glaze glue and glitter to add dimenssion and bling to the ornament he is holding; that was a lot of FUN!  Hard to tell, but I also used glaze pens to color the lights.  I found this nice red felt ribbon that was perfect with this layout.

I had such a great time making this card, and I simply had FUN playing with glitter, glaze and ribbons!  Another xmas card done, and plenty to go! :)
Thanks for stopping by and have a good one!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES83

Still playing catchup, this is last week TCP Tuesday Challenge, which was a sketch challenge hosted by the very talented Leigh! A good thing that I have all month to participate in these TCP Tuesday Challenges, gives me time to catch up!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I took one look at this sketch and my eyes brighten up when I saw the circles framed by scallop circles; and what a great idea to offset them off the edge of the card like that! FUN!!!

While looking at my TCP stamps, I came across these 3 amigos penguins, and I just had to ink them!  Aren't they adorable? They are part of The TCP Kitty Christmas set, and it is one whole image so I knew I had to mask them to seperate them out but it was totally worth it!  I really like how this card came out!  See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil - how FUN is that?  And the very appropriate sentiment, "Naughty or Nice?" is stamped inside.  I pulled these pattern papers from last year DCWV Christmas stack - really like that xmas trees pp and am crazy about the different holiday color combination that grey, black, pink and small splash of red make so I just used those colors throughout.

Had a great time making this holiday card last night.  Made me feel proactive to get another xmas card checked off! :)

Before I run, I wanted to mention that if you love the TCP xmas images like this one I just used, there are new TCP Christmas sets being released today and to celebrate that the TCP Design Team is having a Holiday Hop so you can see in action how AMAZING these new christmas sets are!  Hop on by!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES79

I got a little late start on this week TCP Tuesday Challenge, hosted by Leigh; I got this card done a piece at a time :) ... but when it finally came together, I was glad I got a chance to ink this oh so cute "COOL friends" image from the Cat's Pajamas Deck the Hall swanky set.

This is my take on this challenge:

For this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge, we were ask to use this great sketch brought to us by Leigh - really like the layout with the circle accent and the chance to do some very FUN layering! :)

I have done a few xmas cards so far but I have a long way to go still.  I really like the color combination in the DCWV Christmas stack pattern paper; a little different from the traditional xmas colors.  I added pink color stickles to the flakes on the pattern paper to tie in the pink a bit more.  I got to use the my new Martha Stewart flake punch, really like the dainty look of this snowflake. And that sentiment does make me smile! :)

Thanks for stoppin by, have a good one! :)

Hope that those swanky lovers like me were able to join the Haunted Hop going on now until tomorrow!  Trick or Treating while hopping can pay off!  There is one set of Kitty Kat Pack given away and the winner will be announced on TCP blog, Dancing with Pajamas, this Friday, Oct. 2nd!  So if you haven't checked it out, it is not too late, hop starts here

It was a blast getting a chance to participate in the Haunted Hop as a former Swanky Stamper of the Month and as all of you can probably tell, I do enjoy participating in TCP Challenges.  For this week TCP Tuesday Challenge, hosted by our hopping hostess Susan, who challenged us to use any stamp or stamps from the TCP Fright Night set!

This is a tag card I made with left overs scraps from the two cards I made for the Haunted Hop.

I got quite a few comments on that "potion bottle" :) full of yummy skull candy - a witches brew for sure! That was my inspiration piece for this and two other cards; I basically kept this color pallete!  For those who asked, I bought this at Walmart - I fell in love with the shape and the candy inside!

Tag card came together quickly; really like that Martha Stewart goo edge punch and the way that orange glass glitter came out so defined on the image.  I stamped "Boo!" inside which also comes in this set; and just had FUN making this tag card!

Hope you are having a good week and I thank you for stopping by! :)

TCP Challenge TCPTUES77 / ESS Sketch #53

Doesn't it feel like summer seems to be winding down? I will be so sorry to see it go! :) I am trying to soak in the remaining fading days of summer.

Sprinkle seems to have the right idea here, lounging and sipping on some long island ice tea :) ...

The colors came for this week TCP Tuesday Challenge, hosted by Joanne whose blog, ...just a little something... is filled with creativity. Joanne had for us this yummy and bold color combination - black, melon pink and pumpkin! I thought I could still use this to make a FUN summer card, using the black only as the accent color.

I also wanted to play along with this week ESS Sketch #53, where Tracy Clemente continues her FUN sketches with this one, mixing different layers, a great spot to use a FUN edge punch and a nice flag shape accent to finish it off.

I used leftover scraps on this card! Seems to have collected a bit of that so I am trying to use them a bit at a time. I also used TCP German Glass Glitterin in a very shiny orange color; really like the texture and dimension I got using german glass which is a bit more coarse than regular glitter. I also used some gelly gems that reminded me of water drops. The sentiment is just right, and the flag tag on this layout is a great place for it.
Hope your weekend is relaxing and you get a moment to soak it up! :) Thanks for stopping by!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES76

For this week TCP Tuesday Challenge, Toni switched things a little bit on us and challenged us to use the following:

  • Embossing (dry or wet)
  • Bling
  • At least 3 circles

I took one look at the task list and just knew I was going to have some FUN playing!

Days ago I picked up this year Paper Crafts Holiday Cards & More (Vol.4). I really enjoy flipping through the pages and while admiring all the great creations, I like getting some needed inspiration for the coming holidays! I pretty much had a similar reaction to my friend Tracy Falco --- it really did make me want to do some holiday cards!

So I was inspired to do this xmas tag for this week's challenge:

I did some dry embossing using my Cuttlebug Snow Dots embossing folder which is made up of circles and snowflakes. I used 3 circular gems to make a holly that meets both the 3 circles and the bling requirements. I also used atyouSpica to add more bling to Sprinkles. Doesn't Sprinkles look dashing with her xmas hat? She along with the FUN sentiment are from TCP Kitty Christmas set. All papers used were from last year leftover scraps; it was FUN to put them to use on this tag :)

Not sure what I'll do with this tag yet, but I'll probably put it on a gift bag or use it on a card.

Really had a great time doing a task list type challenge! Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES75

This week TCP Tuesday Challenge is hosted by Leigh who has come up with a FUN sketch filled with some great layering apportunity.

Her is my take on this week challenge:

This is the sketch Leigh had for us to play with. This cute owl image comes from TCP Happy Camper set and I the sentiment made me think of a song he is playing, which led to the idea of using the music cuttlebug folder to emboss the background of one of the layers. I have been wanting to use this owl as owl images are one of my favorites. I just haven't had the chance until now. I am still getting use to coloring with my new copics and the blending marker; and even though I am not entirely happy with the way I colored the log he is sitting on, I am happy with the way the owl came out and how it matches the PP nicely.

I used these mosaic looking tiny tiles called Pez-a-Bling Acrylic Embellishments that I got from Marti at Pez-a-Doodle; they look pretty neat, and are fun to use; but not sure I capture it as good as a like on the picture.

Had a great time making this card; need to practice my coloring more :) Thanks for stopping by and hope you are having a relaxing weekend!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES74 / ESS Sketch #51

It has been a busy week for me with work, a fridge watering my living room rug and my kitchen wood floor and some intense bed hunting - which is much harder than buying a house, I am convinced! With all that, I haven't had a chance to do any scrapping or blogging or even reading any of my blog reads. But enough, I need a break from all that! :)

I caught up with this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge, hosted by Jen from i{heart}2stamp, where she is challenging us to break out our TCP Halloween stamps and have a fright night (well in my case) of stamping! :)

This is my take on this week's challenge:

I started this card using this week's ESS Sketch #51, where Tracy Clemente is one sketch away from a year full of inspiring and very FUN sketches! And this one was no different! A simple blank canvas, with great areas to use punches! That was my first thought and everything else came together rather quickly.

Sprinkles dressed up as a ghost holding that trick or treat pumpkin bucket is FANTASTIC; both of these TCP images had not seen ink and I was eager to do so this time around. That star pumpkin image was fun to use in combination with Martha Stewart scary fence.

I had a FUN frightful night, stamping, coloring and overall de-stressing! :)

Have a great holiday weekend! And thank you for stopping by!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES71

This week TCP Tuesday Challenge is hosted by Carole, who has another FUN sketch for us to play with. I really like the different shape card as well as all the curves! :) I finally had a chance this week to sit down and play along.

This is what I came up with for this week's challenge:

I turned the sketch on its side so that I could use this CUTE, FUN image of mermaid Sprinkles from the newly released Cat's Pajamas By the Sea set. When I saw this image I flipped and just had to have it! I hadn't had a chance to ink her so I had to do something about that! :) Hard to tell but the DCWV pattern paper has shimmer on it and I used atyouSpica glitter pen to add shimmer on the image. I added dark blue gems to tie in the colors and add dimension. The sentiment

This was such a fun sketch to play with, I had a blast! Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES69

For this week TCP Tuesday Challenge, Jen, from i{heart}2stamp, brings us another Color Challenge! She chose some very bright, summer FUN colors; such a great combination, I decided to use them all!

I was really itching to ink this new Cat's Pajamas By the Sea set - isn't it adorable??? This set is part of three new Cat's Pajamas release which consist of two very FUN summer stamp sets and one get well stamp set - they are so darn cute; and I could not resist getting all three!!! You could check out the Kitty Kat Pack- a great deal on all three sets! Poochie and Sprinkles look amazing and those cute little penguins are just irrisistable!

I honed in on Poochie sitting down with a cold ice drink reading a book under the shade of an umbrella - wish I could be right next to him being a beach bum myself :)!

Here is my take on this week's challenge:

This new By the Sea set goes nicely with Life is a Beach Cricut Cartridge. I felt like Poochie needed some palm trees to finish his fun under the sun scene :) - I added some shading to the palm trees for some added dimension. I tore some orange texture paper for the sand and added the sun to finish it off. These were some FUN colors to work with and I had a great time making this card!

TCP Challenge TCPTUES67

For this week's TCP Challenge, the very talented Leigh from Sunflower Studio is our host - filling in for Toni who is having "Fun in the Sun" on her vacation! Leigh brings us an inspirational challenge based on these graphic fabric prints bought to make beach bags. That stripe pattern one caught my attention immediately and I went with that!

Thanks to Tracy Falco wonderful enabling, I was able to use the newly released Cat's Pajamas Fun in the Sun set. I really wanted to ink one of the images on this set, so I chose Poochie with his surf board.

I needed a sketch, and I found the inspiration in this week Simon Says Stamp Challenge, where the sketch created by Dawny from Pink Piggy reminded me of the TCP inspiration picture.

This sketch caught my attention also because I saw plenty of room to use a lot of fun summer pattern papers; specially those I have been hanging onto for a while now!

Here is my take for both of these challenges:

I really like sand-like pattern paper; it is hard to see on the picture but it has dimensional water drops on it, looks pretty cool! I stress the ribbon a little bit (maybe too much) and added red lines with my copics (first time I have done this, and will need to practice). Poochie looks rather dashing in his Hawaiian inspired shirt :)

This was a fun card to make, had a great time layering! This will be a thank you card to someone for making it possible for me and the hubby to have some fun in the sun this weekend!

Supplies:
Poochie w/surfboard - The Cat's Pajamas

TCP Challenge TCPTUES67 / Christmas in July!

This week TCP Tuesday Challenge is hosted by Carole, who has a sketch for us to play with. Lots of FUN circles on this sketch!

I was trying to figure out what TCP image to use, when I came across this wreath with cute robins on it from the Elegant Christmas set. The circular shape of the image just called for me to use it; so I thought it was just perfect for a Christmas in July card! After all, it can never be too soon to get started!

I really like the elegant look of this set. I ended up using mostly scraps leftover from last year's Christmas cards. I used some H20 pearlescent watercolor around the wreath to match the shimmer on the pearlescent gold paper and glitter on the green strip of paper. The additional circles were a perfect spot to add the snowflakes and the sentiment:). I also added some red stickles on the wreath and just had fun with this card!

Thanks for stopping by! :)
