Fortune Cookie Note / ESS Sketch #47

I needed to make a fun notecard for someone who is about to start her second year of college and I wanted to wish her luck!

Here is my take on this week's sketch:

I started with this week ESS Sketch #47 created by Tracy Clemente (like my ESS Thursday badge :)?); when I saw the "tag" that Tracy put on this sketch, it immediately brought to mind the idea of a fortune cookie with fortune sentiment as the "tag" :)... after all what says "good luck", "good fortunes"- better than a fortune cookie???

I used pattern papers from the DCWV Far East stack - came together nicely with the image. The fortune cookie sentiment adds dimension to the card, and I like the way it came out. Really enjoyed this set, and the A MUSE Fortune Cookie Words set has so many FUN sentiments :)... I could see many uses for them!

Supplies:
"A new opportunity awaits you" - A MUSE Fortune Cookie Words set
"The cookie has spoken" - A MUSE Fortune Cookie Words set (sentiment inside)
Fortune Cookie - A MUSE Fortune Cookie
DWCV Far East Stack
Momento Bamboo ink

Versafine Onyx Black ink

TCP Challenge TCPTUES65 / ESS Sketch #43

For this week TCP Tuesday Challenge, Jen, from i{heart}2stamp, is back with a Color Challenge! She chose some really nice colors; bright and FUN :) --- use to be that these would be outside my comfort zone, but they have grown on me :)...

I knew I wanted to use this week's ESS Sketch #43, where Tracy Clemente did a nice job at keeping it simple and wide open to many FUN ideas. My first thought when I saw this sketch was how an edge punch was a must!

I made this card with my friend in mind, she just finished her first year of med school; and I been thinking of her lately. I wanted to drop her a line and rope her in for a summer time visit --- before life gets CRAZY again for her!:)

Here is what I came up with for these two challenges:

I chose to use It's A Western Thing set; where Sprinkle, in her FABULOUS cowgirl outfit, is swirling a rope. I thought the sentiment was just perfect and I used some AMUSE tiny star rhinestones on the sentiment for FUN :)! To tone down the white paper, I used a light yellow stamp pad with a color duster; my first time using this and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. And after seeing so many creative blog posts using Copics, I finally took the plunge and bought my first set, which I eagerly used here and had a blast with them! Thanks Tracy Falco for enableling :) ; especially for encouraging me to buy those TCP stamps! I find myself finding use for them! :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Spring Thank You Card / ESS Sketch #31

I am continuing to make the thank you cards I need now that I have my PC up and running! I don't have too many punches so having my darling Cricut and Cricut Design Studio is so essential to me :)....

This is what my take on the sketch:

I turned again to this week's Eat Sleep Stamp ESS Sketch #31, where I found it to be a perfect sketch to use my A MUSE stamps - since they tend to be small and single - and would fit just right in 1 1/2'' circles :)...

The rounded square frame I used was done with the help of my Cricut. And once I had that done, I was in business!

This card was all made out of scraps :)! I sanded the embossed texture paper to give it more definition. I used a clear atyouSpica marker to color the bird house to match the glittered pattern paper. Adding the rhinestones was a last minute decision and it turned out okay :)... this was a FUN sketch and I'm pretty happy with the results! Check out Tracy Clemente's blog for more on her weekly FUN sketch challenges; and while you are there check out her blog; she is very creative! :)

Little Note / ESS Sketch #29

I needed to make a quick little note card to send to a family member who is having a tough time with her diabetes and being stubborn about switching to Splenda. Along with this card, I plan to send her a little bag filled with Splenda to encourage this switch :) - she is like a mom to me so I need her to take care of herself :)

Here is my take on this sketch:

The Eat Sleep Stamp ESS Sketch #29 came to mind - actually it came to the rescue :)... it promised a great look with clean lines.

I was encouraged by Tracy Clemente sample card for this challenge to use my A MUSE stamps - so I went with the first set I pulled out - A Stitched Garden Set.

I used a gem for the birdies eye... really love that PP; I got it at Costco after being enabled :) and it is a huge stack... so I was glad to use some of it! I had my doubts about this image though - this set was an impulsive buy :)- but once I colored it, it looked cute :)

stitched birdie - A MUSE

"a little note" - A MUSE A Stitched Garden Set

In the Highway of Life You Carry the Gift

The challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug (BBTB) is to make a card using the Highway Sign from the Cricut Going Places cartridge. Regina did it again, another great challenge! I had these scraps sitting on my desk from my previous TCP card (a color challenge) - the blue DCWV PP had a glitter swirl that caught my eye and I had to do something with it.

So continuing to use my scraps, I made this card for my sister. She is going through some hurdles in life right now and this is reminder that in the highway of life she carries the gift of those who love her and always want to see her succeed in life :) ...

The highway sign cut by my darling Cricut made a perfect frame for this A MUSE cute little VW bug stamp; yellow is appropriate because my sister use to have a yellow car, we dubbed it the banana boat. Ahh... memories. The gift on top of it was just too perfect! :) I used the wavy dotted punch to show how the road of life is full of up and downs :) And this of course will be sent with love.

The PP, the shape of the card and the ribbon is very much like a typical A MUSE card; so overall this card came together just right :) ... (thanks Tracy for the many splendid classes, I have learned A LOT!)

Supplies:
Car with gift - A MUSE Simple Thoughts
"with love" - A MUSE Simple Thoughts
Highway Sign- cut at 2 3/8'' using Going Places cartridge
A MUSE gems
EK Dotted Wave edge punch
PP is DCWV Sweet Stack and Spring 2007 Stack
