IO Favorite FUN Quote / ESS Sketch #105

Had a chance this week to participate in IO Stamp Favorite Poem, Quote, and/or Saying Challenge.  I wanted to do a card for a friend to cheer her up; and I found this Smell the Coffee set from Impression Obsession that will do the trick.  And the quote is just too perfect! :)

I also played along with this week ESS Sketch #105 created by Tracy Clemente.  My eye is totally drawn to the pane or window look of the sketch. I turned it on its side and decided to have a little fun with the shape of the frame.  I so like this image!  And it just so happens that I had the right pattern paper to go with it.  I used stickles on the cups of coffees to match the glitter on the DCWV Belle Cafe Stack pattern paper.

I needed to place the sentiment somewhere and a bookmark shape frame would do the trick.  Added the ribbon on the image's frame to add a bit of interest.

Really like how this card turned out and look forward to using the rest of these IO stamps!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great Friday!

July ATC card for Swap

Had meant to post this sooner, but I simply forgot!  For the month of July's ATC Swap hosted Tracy Clemente from Eat, Sleep, Stamp blog, I decided to use this really fun IO Flip Out stamp set that I couldn't pass up on.  Really enjoyed stamping these!

I used this EK beach punch that totally goes well with this image and added flower soft to add the "sand".  This made for a FUN look; and it gave it texture and dimension.  I finished it off with some really tiny star shape gems.  The pattern paper was a great find; really like the colors and the wavy lines.

Hope the lady found the summer look FUN! :)

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

Bday Mint Ice Cream Sundae/ ESS Sketch #92

It has been a while since I played along with Tracy Clemente's ESS Sketches that she creatively comes up with every Thursday.  But that doesn't mean that I wasn't using her sketches as inspiration, her Eat, Sleep, Stamp site is a great source for some much needed mojo!

My friend's birthday was yesterday and I wanted to make a card using this Impression Obsession -IO Sundae Kisses image.  She just got an ice cream maker that she is enjoying using and thought this would be perfect!  But I was drawing a blank on the layout.  Thought of Tracy's sketches and found the inspiration I was looking for in this week ESS Sketch #92.

Here is what I came up with:

The sweet IO sentiment also fit nicely :).  I paper pieced the ice cream bowl and glazed the cherry.  I also used Martha Stewart fine iridescent white glitter for the whip cream.   The ice cream is suppose to be Mint flavored ice cream with some hot strawberry fudge on it.  I love the taste of this combination.  I could eat it all day!

Here is Tracy's Sketch.  I made a few interpretations like making the oval big enough to fit my cute sundae.  Love the strips because it allowed me to use a the busy cherry pattern paper without overwhelming the card.  And got to use a cute edge punch!

This image makes me want ice cream! AND an ice cream maker does sound like fun... hmmmm, the possibilities..... wishlist!

Thanks for stopping by!

IO White Challenge

This weekend is already half way over and I didn't get half the things done on my list! But at least I manage to do one more xmas card when I decided to play along with Impression Obsession's White Challenge. Now the white challenge was definetely that, a challenge! But I had this idea in my head for days and no time to sit down and do anything until now. I really couldn't play much with the idea, since I was already running late for the deadline of this challenge, so this was a fast card, mistakes and all! :)

Here is my take on this challenge. I tried to capture the shimmer of the paper, which took me a bit of time when I was already running late! :)

This ornament from the IO Fancy Ornaments set is so PRETTY, I really enjoyed dressing it up with rinestones. I stamped this image with embossing ink on DCWV The Shimmer Stack paper and used fine opaque embossing powder, then cut it out. The snowflake is cut using my Cricut When It's Cold Outside cartridge and I used my Cuttlebog embossing folders to emboss the base card shaped like a tag.

Really glad I got to emboss on this card, usually not something I think to do and I had a blast doing it. I also like the end result, this ornament looks so elegant embossed.

Thank you for stopping by and Happy Holiday cardmaking everyone! :)

IO Shaker Cards Challenge / Christmas Tree

Christmas seems to be just around the corner, sneaking up rather quickly or so it seems. I wanted to play along with Impression Obscession's Shaker Cards Challenge. Shaker cards are so much FUN and IO makes it easier with their Shake It Pouches - comes with a nice peel-n-stick backing that holds the inner stuff nicely inside the accetate.

This is my take on this challenge:

I used the IO Star-topped Tree image and added some flower soft in Polar White as snow on the tree. I also mixed some with coarse glitter as the "snow" element inside the shaker box. I also folded a strip of paper to mimic ribbon folding I have seen on some great looking projects; really like how it gives a nice fancy look to the card. I also got to use my new Martha Stewart three dot punch that worked nice with the dot embossing on the frame. The frame was cut using my Cricut; it caught my eye with its FUN shape :)!

Great time making this card, too much FUN actually, did not pay more attention to gluing things on straight when putting it all together --- but that is what makes it handmade! :)

ESS Sketch #58 / IO Wreath Challenge

The first week of November has started off a little bit choppy; I caught a nasty cold that has zap a lot of my energy and made me a bit miserable. But since I slept most of the day away, I am burning the midnight oil right now, getting a chance to play in this week's Sketchy Thursday ESS Sketch #58. I also wanted to participate in the bi-weekly Impression Obsession's stamp challenge where they are currently having A Wreath Card Challenge.

This is my take on these two challenges:

I used this ESS sketch that Tracy Clemente created featuring a nice big circle with some fun circular embelishment to accent the circular frame. I thought this sketch went perfectly with the image I had in mind and that the circular embelishment were just right for using some gems.

For the IO Wreath Challenge, I wanted to use this fancy looking wreath from the Fancy Ornaments set along with this sentiment that fits so nicely. I used Martha Stewart pine branch punch to border the image, and I think it gives the card a FUN look :). I used pink gems on the wreath to match last year DCWV Christmas Stack pattern papers. I really like the way the pink looks combined with red and green on these pattern papers.

This was a FUN card to make and all the time I was making it, I didn't really think about my constant runny nose, LOL :)! It was a temporary relief! :)

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

ESS Sketch #55 / IO Challenge

I have been running a bit behind all week, no suprise that I'm so late posting this card for last week Sketchy Thursday ESS Sketch #55, definetely playing catch up!  I also wanted to participate in the bi-weekly Impression Obsession's stamp challenge where they are currently having  A Winter Card Challenge.

This is my take on these two challenges:

I started off using this ESS sketch that Tracy Clemente brought us; where she gave us a lot of room for layering and using edge of some sort.  I decided to turn the sketch on its side to give me more room for the image I had in mind to use.  Somehow that strip on the side spelled out ribbon in my mind so I new i had to use a strip of ribbon.  For the edge, I ended up using this EK big scallop edge punch - I really like the way it looks.  Like many of Tracy's sketches, it was so easy to work with and adapt.

Don't those xmas stockings look AMAZING? So full of details and so much FUN to color!  This  Ice Skate Stockings image is from Impression Obscession and inking this was a joy! :)  I bought a few more IO stamps just in time for the holidays and I am hoping to get a chance to ink them as well

I know the challenge called for a winter card, and I thought this ice skates image fit nicely!  I had to cut off the bow on top because I wanted to add the twine and matching button.  The pattern paper is from a Provo Craft Holiday Slab V that I picked up a few years ago and I really like how they coordinate.  I colored the blades metallic gold and added a few golden brad to match.  I also added a piece of kraft paper embossed with my cuttlebug wood grain folder to add a bit of texture.

I have to tell you, I had a FUN time making this card even if I did take my time putting it together.  It definetely put me a holiday mood!  One more xmas card done...and many to go! :)
Thanks for stopping by! :)

Happy Blogoversary, Tracy! / ESS Sketch #38

I want to wish Tracy Clemente from Eat, Sleep, Stamp CONGRATULATIONS on her 2 year blogoversary! I want to tell her how much I appreciate her taking time to share her creativity with the rest of us! Her blog is full of inspiration, you can tell she puts in a lot of time and a lot of LOVE to every post!

Here is my take on both these two great challenges:

In celebration of her blogoversary, Tracy challenged us to make a birthday theme card. Perfect, because I do need to do a few more bday cards :). I needed a sketch, and of course Tracy's ESS Sketch #38 was the oh so right choice - simple yet FUN with a chance to use an edge punch!

This cupcake stand says birthday all over it! Really liking this image, with all its details - I had a great time coloring it! The DCWV Sweet pp complements it nicely.

Cupcakes w/stand - Impression Obscession
Cupcakes - MC181
DCWV Sweets Stack, DCWV Texture Paper

Valentine's Special Delivery from {heart} Owl

For Valentines this year I wanted to make something extra special for my dh; 2008 was a rough year for him professionally - a full rollercoaster ride - but it has made our relationship stronger.

I made a few projects that I still need to take more pictures of, but for now I want to show you one of the things I made for him, all thanks to Jen C, a very talented lady who sees things in one more dimension than the rest of us :) and is a wiz with Cricut Design Studio. I first saw this mailbox on her blog post {Brain Things....}: You've Got Mail! I asked her for the cut file and she was gracious enough to send it to me. I told her I would post once I got it done :)...

I fell in love with the owl in the Storybook Cartridge and knew I had to use it while keeping the look masculine. I used some pink bubbles for the eyes - love fill eyes :). The pattern paper is from a Martha Stewart paper pad I happened to find at Walmart.

Isn't Jen's cut file just simply amazing??? It cut beautifully and just perfect for a love note inside :) Visit her blog {Brain Things....} to take a look at the rest of her amazing creations!
